Judaism teaches us that we should be saying 100 blessings a day! What are all of these blessings? How do you say them? What is the basic blessing formula? How can I possibly say this many blessings every single day? Through creativity and looking at the world around us, we will explore the idea of blessing and realize how easy it is to count our blessings.

Description

Judaism teaches us that we should be saying 100 blessings a day! What are all of these blessings? How do you say them? What is the basic blessing formula? How can I possibly say this many blessings every single day? Through creativity and looking at the world around us, we will explore the idea of blessing and realize how easy it is to count our blessings.

  • Week 1: What is a blessing? How do I say a blessing? This week we will uncover the basic idea of blessings. We will learn about some of the basic blessing and begin to explore some of the many things blessings can be said over such as food, trees, family, and friends.
  • Week 2: This week we will begin to delve into blessings that can be said over things that may not happen every day. We will also begin to create our own blessings.
  • Week 3: We will continue to explore the many blessings we can say in one day. The second half of this session will include some games that challenge participants to come up with 100 blessings.
Requirements
In this class students should have access to a window to look out and space to work at a table, desk, or counter.

  • Pen or pencil
  • Colored pencils
  • Crayons, markers or water colors
  • Other household and natural objects - a list to be given in the prior week

Stephanie Marshall, RJE has been engaging learners for 34 years. Teaching all ages, toddlers to adults, she has worked as the Education Director at synagogues and Jewish agencies around the country, as the director of Jewish Day camps, and as both an educator and faculty member at several Jewish sleep away camps. Stephanie has also spent many years as a youth group advisor. She has her MA in Jewish Education from HUC-JIR, where she was awarded the Rabbi Mordecai and Eve Soloff Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. Stephanie has also earned a certificate in Innovation and Change/Excellence in School Leadership from NewCAJE. She is currently based in Tulsa, OK.
