Comedic Commercials with The Bible Players

New Class
The Bible Players

In this 3-week course we will use pieces of wisdom as inspiration for hilarious advertisements to be written and performed. Together we will study Pirkei Avot, a book of quotable lessons from the Mishnah and what they mean to us today. We will choose teachings that are meaningful to us and write and perform commercials to advertise their ideas. We will improvise, laugh, get silly, wear costumes, and have a lot of fun.

Description

“Who is wise? One who learns from every person.” - Pirkei Avot (ethics of the sages)

By the end of the 3 weeks we will have written, filmed, and presented our special commercials.

We will learn and laugh together as only The Bible Players can.

Course Outline:

*Pick a Pirkei - Look at various Jewish nuggets of wisdom and pick one that speaks to us.

*More Bad Ideas - Use improv games to brainstorm many ideas and begin to write our commercial scripts.

*Finalize and Film - Finalize our commercial scripts and begin to film those that are ready, get those last shots of our commercials adding sound, images, and making them memorable.

*Showtime - Finally, we will present our finished commercials and unpack what we’ve learned that we will carry with us.
