Truvie Teachers: Responsibility to Report
We are committed to the safety and well-being of learners on the Truvie site because it is central to our Jewish values and mission. Unfortunately, having a lens into our students’ lives (and hearts) means that sometimes we see things that are concerning.
If you believe that a learner’s safety may be in immediate danger, you should first encourage the learner to call 911 immediately and you should email us at help@truvie.org as soon as possible with the details of the situation.
Further, if you either see evidence or hear your learner describe abuse or neglect, Truvie requires that you immediately report what you’ve seen or heard to help@truvie.org. Depending on your geographic location, you may have an individual responsibility to report abuse or neglect to local authorities or child protective services.
You should report any time a learner expresses that they believe they are in danger or describes having experienced something more than acceptable physical discipline. Since abuse or neglect can be hard to define, you can read more information at https://www.childwelfare.gov/topics/can/defining/.
Teachers in the USA can check this site to determine your state's mandated reporting requirements. Teachers abroad should check their local laws – here is the link for Canada.
Last, if you have any other concerns regarding a learner, please email us at help@truvie.org as soon as possible with details of your concern.
